Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling and submission art designed to use leverage and positioning to create an opportunity to defend yourself from an opponent.
Each class focuses on helping you develop proper technique, and an understanding of the concepts and fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The Momentum Martial Arts Jiu-jitsu program is the only Team Renzo Gracie school in Saskatchewan and we are affiliated through the Ottawa Academy of Martial Arts.
At Momentum Martial Arts we believe that everyone has the right to train in a friendly, safe, and fun environment. Our students are from various demographics and professions, but it is hard to tell the difference once you step onto the mat because all students are treated as equals. We teach you techniques and then let you try those techniques out with a training partner. As a grappling art we spend most of our training sessions on high quality mats, this enables our students to train without having to worry about any preventable injuries. We also have a common tradition to ensure that all students introduce themselves to their training partner before starting a technique, drilling, or simply grappling.
Our top priority is to maintain authentic BJJ training in a safe atmosphere. Each class is progressive, however anyone can join at anytime and see results. We have men, women, youth and children that train here at Momentum, and everyone understands that we are part of one team, one family and have a mutual respect for each other in class.
